HERA means Human Exploratory Research Analogue. Here our new analogue studies take place at the Johnson Space Center in Texas. Basically our working groups are represented by two projects aiming to investigate changes due to isolation and confinement taking place in a Mars Habitat Analogon.
Project 1 : Investigator Dr. Stahn: Brain Structur and Function – in particular Hippocampal plasticity
Project 2: Investigators Prof Gunga and Dr. Opatz: Circadian ryhthm and human thermoregulation
These studies give us also the possibility to compare our data from space to ground based data.
