Thermolab
Maintaining a stable Body Core Temperature is of utmost importance for human physiological function and is therefore precisely regulated. A few degrees in variation (such as in hypo- or hyperthermia and fever) can lead to potentially harmful consequences. Being able to determine the body core temperature – instead of just surface temperatures – can play a pivotal role for humans under Heat Stress e.g. firefighters, bomb technicians and astronauts.
Project Thermolab on the International Space Station using the newly developed so called Double Sensor® helps to gain more insight into human thermoregulation in the extreme environment of long term space flights.
